WALKS AROUND POPRAD

On Tuesday, March the 12th, our students went on a trip called “Potulky mestom Poprad”. It didn’t take long and we were able to visit the Archive in SpišskáSobota, the SubTatran Museum and the Tatran gallery. We all met at 8:45 in front of our school and we headed to Spišská Sobota. Our first stop was the archive, where we came at 9:00. We had a presentation about the importance of the archive, how the archive works and also we were surprised about the fact, that they had 3 kilometres of documents there. After the presentation, we headed to our next stop. At 10:00 we visited the Podtatranske museum. We had a lecture about the latest exposition that led us through the history of Poprad. The lecturer told us how the “blue-print”, a specific fabric in Slovakia, is made. We also learned that Gánovce, a town in eastern Slovakia, is one of the most known archaeological sites of a Neanderthal man. It is also interesting, that in the 4th century Celts came to our territory and they introduced us the scissors, as we know them today. After the exposition, that took us an hour and a half, we visited the gallery. The exposition was divided into two parts. The first part was about classic and modern paintings. Textile ART was the name of the second part. This part was educational as well as artistic. Then we had a chance to play fashion pairs. We would like to recommend this trip to others, because our students enjoyed it and we all hope, that this wasn’t the last time we’ve been there.Valentína Orolínová I.B a Tamara Dávidová - I.C Erasmus+

V utorok, 12.3., sa naši žiaci prvého ročníka zúčastnili historickej exkurzie s názvom : Potulky Popradom. Za jedno dopoludnie sme stihli archív v Spišskej Sobote, Podtatranské múzeum a galériu . O 8:45 sme sa stretli pred našou školou a vyrazili na potulky po Poprade.Po kratšej prechádzke sa ocitáme pred ... 9:00 Našou prvou zastávkou, bol ňou archív v spišskej sobote ,kde sme sa dozvedeli ako sa v archíve pracuje a na čo nám slúži, a že majú neuveriteľné 3 km listín.Po krátkej prezentácii sme si pozreli priestory a vybrali sa na našu ďalšiu zastávku. O 10:00 sme sa ocitli v Podtatranskom múzeu a absolvovali sme prehliadku aktuálnej expozície, urobili sme si prechádzku dejinami Popradu. Zistili sme, ako sa vyrába modrotlač, špecifická látka pre Slovensko. Spolu s tým sme sa dozvedeli, že Gánovce patria k najvýznamnejším náleziskám neandertálskeho človeka. Taktiež, že na naše územie v 4. storočí Kelti doniesli nožnice tak ako ich poznáme dnes. 11:30 Vychádzame z múzea , prechádzame námestím a za chvíľku zastaneme pred vchodom Tatranskej galerie. 11:45 Vchádzame do priestorov a obdivujeme nové expozície. Prvá, klasická obrazová výstava, bola nádherná a obsahovala či už klasické obrazy alebo moderné umenie. Druhá výstava pod názvom Textil ART bola poučná a zároveň umelecká. Uznajte prepojenie módy s umením nemôže dopadnúť inak, ako výborne. Zahrali sme si módne pexeso a odolávali pokušeniu dotknúť sa umenia z látky. Všetky tri zastávky boli zaujímavé a určite sme tieto potulky neabsolvovali poslednýkrát. Taktiež Vám ich doporučujeme, určite nebudete ľutovať.

GOOD TO KNOW

On the 31st of January an action called “Good to know” was held in our school, more specifically in our school canteen. It was all organized for our freshmen – students of the first grade and it was one of the activities organized by students and teachers within the project Erasmus+.
Four students from each class were drawn to join the competition. 16 people in 4 groups competed showing their knowledge in 5 disciplines - geography, physics, chemistry, maths and biology. Students chose their questions randomly- they picked a number from 1 to 28 so they didn’t know which category they will compete in.
Two students from 2nd grade were moderators, they directed our younger schoolmates and told them whose turn it was to play, but they kept it all laid back at the same time. Competing students could use a “joker” - they were able to get advice from the audience when they were desperate to answer some of the questions. A few of the previously mentioned questions were accompanied by a helpful video or an experiment, also of course, performed by our students.
We had to do a “shootout” in the end, because three of four involved teams had the same number of points. Every team got a diploma and special prizes that would be able to make not only one dentist happy - various dental aids.
I would say everything ended positively, but it wouldn’t make any damage if our audience (students of the 1st grade) were more active, supported their teams and weren´t so shy next time.

DAY OF FRUIT

We want to learn and educate in an innovative way and that´s the reason why we organised DAY OF FRUIT in our school. In the project Erasmus+, a topic for Slovakia is Water and its forms. Through the presentation prepared by students we tried to explain that there are a lot of water supplies in fruits even though we can´t see it ... Students also prepared a quiz for their schoolmates to find out what students knew and what new they learned about water and healthy lifestyle. It was a really great event and what´s more, everyone had fun!
